Dr. Ranya Habash of Boca Raton named Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist in Florida

The Florida Society of Ophthalmology has named Ranya Habash, M.D., of Boca Raton as the Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist in Florida.

Habash's honor is given annually to a Florida ophthalmologist younger than forty years of age, who has been in his/her practice situation for less than eight years, who has demonstrated leadership, service, competence, and devotion to the high ethical and professional standards of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology. This award was presented to her during the Florida Society of Ophthalmology's annual meeting on June 21, 2008 at The Breakers in Palm Beach.

Dr. Habash, of the West Boca Eye & Cosmetic Center, completed her ophthalmology residency at Texas Tech University Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, where she was elected President of all medical departments at Texas Tech and worked closely with the hospital administration as their representative.  Prior to medical school, she graduated with honors from Wake Forest University, and then returned to her home state to receive her medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine, where she served as President of her medical school class.

The Florida Society of Ophthalmology has named Ranya Habash, M.D., of Boca Raton as the Outstanding Young Ophthalmologist in Florida.

The honor is given annually to a Florida ophthalmologist younger than 40 years of age, who has been in his/her practice situation for less than eight years, who has demonstrated leadership, service, competence, and devotion to the high ethical and professional standards of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology.

The award was presented during the Florida Society of Ophthalmology’s annual meeting June 21 at The Breakers in Palm Beach.

The Florida Society of Ophthalmology (FSO) was established in 1939. The FSO is a non-profit professional medical association dedicated to serving more than 500 ophthalmologists from the state of Florida.

The mission of the society is to advocate for the practice of ophthalmology and offer annual continuing education programs specifically tailored to meet the needs of ophthalmologists in the interest of patient care.

  2004 Ophthalmologist of the Year was awarded to
Dr. Emanuel Newmark, MD.
 

2003 Ophthalmologist of the Year was awarded to
Dr. Michael Levine, MD.

2002 Ophthalmologist of the Year  was awarded to
Dr. David Cano, MD.

  2001 Ophthalmologist of the Year was Awarded to
Dr. Mark Michels, MD.
